Pause Before you Post
I saw this as I was reading through several stories at NPR-
"Breaking News: Man Tweets Without Really Thinking About It First"
This is the link to the story -
It got me to thinking how hard it is to get students to really 'play the tape forward' (using an old metaphor) and consider all the implications of mean tweets or facebook messages if we as adults don't set a very good example.
And all it really takes is just a moment to think and then probably decide in "to tweet or not to tweet" - perhaps NOT tweeting is the right choice more often than not.
The question is - how can we help a school community educate everyone about the impact of posting information that we later regret?
Jostens' Educator Service has just released an excellent turn-key public service program called Pause Before You Post™ to help students learn about personal publishing, particularly when it involves sharing information through social media.
The package includes a DVD with a video introduction to the issue, interactive lesson plans, PSAs, etc.
We will also include 5 posters, and 200 "Pause" pins, plus 200 Student guides to personal publishing and much more.
Here is the brochure for you to review.
